Caffé Vergnano has a long-standing tradition in the market dating back to 1882, when Domenico Vergnano opened a grocery store in the town of Chieri near Turin, Italy. Soon, he began selling and roasting coffee. This commitment was driven by bold decisions, including the purchase of the first coffee plantation in Kenya. From the beginning, Vergnano focused on selecting the most valuable coffee varieties, those that grow only at certain altitudes and in special climates rich in mineral salts, found in Central American countries such as Haiti, El Salvador, Costa Rica, San Domingo, Guatemala, and later also Kenya and Brazil. Quality monitoring actually begins before the plant grows, using natural compost at coffee farms producing for Vergnano, as this is the only method that allows cultivation of flavorful coffee beans.
