In 1933, a young coffee merchant named Konrad Werner Wille from Bremen came to Munich, Bavaria, with the task of establishing a special coffee department at the Dallmayr delicatessen house. Under the motto “Bremen blending expertise and Southern German love for coffee,” he developed a premium coffee assortment. He purchased raw coffee, operated the roasting machine himself, and organized sales. He created his own special blends and supplied leading cafés and hotels. This marked the birth of the “Dallmayr Kaffee” brand, which made the name of the exclusive delicatessen widely known.

In the post-war period, the coffee business developed very successfully, and soon the company’s good reputation applied equally to both delicacies and coffee. In the early 1960s, the largest and most modern coffee roastery in Southern Germany was established in the Giesing district of Munich, and the “Dallmayr Kaffee” brand became a household name throughout Bavaria. In 1985, the coffee division was separated from the main company and incorporated into the newly founded Alois Dallmayr Kaffee OHG. Shortly thereafter, the goal of expanding roasted coffee sales beyond Bavaria was achieved. Today, Dallmayr coffee is one of the leading branded products on the German coffee market.
